Teresa's Story
Teresa's son Manuel, age 21, was diagnosed with cancer. Unwilling to accept this diagnosis, she brought him to Ensenada for a second opinion. They arrived at House of Mercy, settled in, and prayed for a miracle. When they saw the second doctor, he agreed with the first. Devastated by the results, Manuel mentally prepared to start treatment and Teresa met with Pastor Francisco to ask him to pray with her for her son.
Before starting treatment, Manuel was seen by a specialist. That doctor ran more tests and discovered that what Manuel actually had was not cancer but an infection. He was immediately relieved and Teresa knew beyond a doubt that God had answered her prayers.
Teresa and Manuel will stay at House of Mercy while Manuel's infection is being treated. During this trial, Teresa reflected on what purpose it had on her son's life and her own. She came to realize that the Lord wanted her to know the power of prayer and laying things at His feet. She said, “We prayed and asked for prayer, and God granted us the miracle. And now we believe that God will fulfill His purpose in Manuel's life.”
