Francisco's Story

Francisco traveled from Puerto Vallarta to Ensenada when his cousin ended up in the hospital. For three days, Francisco stayed at House of Mercy while his cousin was being treated. During that time, his life was transformed.

A truck driver by trade, Francisco travels all over Mexico and is sometimes gone from home for long periods of time. His wife Marielena said that the traveling wasn't the hardest part of their marriage. It was Francisco's unwillingness to accept Jesus. Over the years she has shared her faith with him countless times with no success. Nonetheless she continued praying for her husband to come to know Jesus. Her prayers were answered when Francisco came to House of Mercy in December 2023. Francisco said, “I have heard the gospel many times but here, at House of Mercy, is the first time I have seen it.”

As a brand new believer, Francisco is reevaluating his life and making Christ his priority. He decided to stay at House of Mercy for a couple of months to give back to the ministry that changed his life. Marielena also came up from Puerto Vallarta to serve alongside her husband. They both help with the cooking and cleaning, and Francisco helps with the transportation of guests to and from the hospital.

Francisco has no idea what the future holds for him and he's not concerned about it. He trusts that the Lord will reveal what's next for him and his wife when the time comes. For now, they are both happy serving at House of Mercy and Pastor Francisco is happy to have the extra help.
