Abuela Rosie
Rosa Maria Razo, better known as Abuela Rosie, was born and raised in Ventura, California. She lived with both parents and was responsible for the household chores so she never worked outside of the home. When she graduated from high school she married her first husband. They were together for 10 years.
Rosie's second husband was the one who brought her to Ensenada. He was very involved in missions and helping the local Mexican churches. For 20 years they came together to serve in the area and when he passed away, Rosie decided to make Ensenada her permanent home.
Rosie has been living at Casa del Abuelo since early 2023. At 78 years old, she is one of the most active abuelas. She loves to look her best and help around the ministry. She said, “I'm glad to be here, it's a beautiful home and clean. Also people take care of you, that's nice.”
Adopt an Abuelo
Casa del Abuelo cares for more than 20 abuelos at a time. They operate entirely on donations to cover expenses for water, propane, gas, food, transportation, and medicine. For $50 a month you can help provide these essential items for an abuelo.
