Abuela Nicacia

Nicacia was born in Zacatecas, and raised by her father in Sinaloa. She doesn't talk about why her mother wasn't in the picture, instead she boasts about how proud she was of her father for raising her and her three siblings on his own. He taught them to work hard, respect others, and be good people.

Nicacia did not have the opportunity to go school. She worked in the fields and helped her dad as much as she could. She married at a young age and had seven children of her own. She came to Ensenada in her early 50's. Her husband said that they would only stay for three months. That was back in 1996. She laughs really hard when she says that.

Nicacia is a widow now, her children are all grown. She came to Casa del Abuelo in June 2021 when she could no longer care for herself. She speaks kindly about Angelica and Pastor Nicolas for helping her and giving her a place to live. Her favorite things about living here are the food, the care she receives, and the cleanliness of the facility.
